Holy Cross Academy held its 1st Annual Day celebration on 15th December 2023, at Holy Cross Quadrangle. The theme “In the Beginning”, was a magnificent display of the school’s origin, existence and achievements in its first academic year. Along with the school’s achievements, the event was a platform to recognize the individual growth and progress of every student.
As the head boy of this prestigious school, it was a day of pride and honour for me. While I had the opportunity to co-host the show with my schoolmates, it was an enriching experience watching a display of great talent among all my co-students.
The annual day concert was attended by dignitaries in the management, and chief guest, Adv. Niteen Pradhan, along with special guest Rev. Fr. Abel Fernandes. Each of them was felicitated with flower bouquets.
The venue was decorated and lit up like glittering stars and the arrangements made were excellent.
The concert began with the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries and was followed by the invocation of God through a graceful prayer dance. This was followed by a cute chicken dance by the pre-primary students.
More entertainment followed with dances and singing and a display of talent by our budding musicians who are being trained in guitar and piano lessons at our school AEP. (Academic Enrichment Program). There was also a mind-blowing performance of gymnastics by us young gymnasts displaying flexibility and strength that we have learned at the AEP gymnastics training.
The finale was a skit based on a story of hope and sharing set in the era of World War 2. The students’ acting skills were put to work most creatively.
Our principal, Ms Arlene Gomes, gave an overall view and the annual report of the school’s achievements and progress of the ongoing year. Our teachers put in a lot of hard work and time to train us for the annual day concert. Through the preparatory days, we have learned a lot. I am grateful to our management- Rev. Fr. Barthol Machado, Rev. Fr. Norbert Dsouza and Rev. Fr. Ryan Alex, our principal Ms. Arlene Gomes and all our teachers for giving us students an opportunity to explore our talents and a platform to display them. The beauty was in the fact that every student got a chance to be on stage! I will cherish this year’s annual day concert.
