1ST ANNUAL ATHLETIC MEET 2024

 Holy Cross Academy witnessed and anticipated the most awaited event of the school’s 1st Annual Athletic Meet on 19th January 2024, at the Holy Cross Playground. This event has been a major part of the values-based integral education system of the school. 

Undoubtedly the most solemn part of the ceremony was the Relay of the Torch by the school’s noteworthy Students Council. The torch relay marked the beginning of an exciting series of sporting events taking place to encourage children to participate in Sports activities and understand the values of the sport.

The Principal of Holy Cross Academy, Mrs. Arlene Gomes ignited the flame edifying the gathering with her thoughtful words, and declaring the Meet open, amidst the thunderous applause. The School Head Boy, Master Aaron Dsouza administered the oath to the athletes. 

The glittering opening ceremony commenced with the arrival of the Chief Guest, Rev. Fr. Jude Rodrigues, a renowned Sports personality being the MSSA President who has always encouraged sports at the Grassroot level, attired Guard of Honour at the ground in a frolicsome atmosphere. The March past in perfect coordination, in time with the beats of the Brass Band that exhibited discipline and hardcore practice of the students.

The 100m, 200, and 4x100m relay races kept the spirit of healthy competition alive as the students’ wild cheers rent the air, and the athletes, with grit and determination, raced to achieve victory and glory for their respective houses. The tiny tots were one step ahead on the racing tracks. 

The Chief Guest Rev.Fr.Jude Rodrigues applauded the performance and awarded the winners with their trophies position. The Championship Trophy for the Tug-of-War Boys and Girls was won by Ochre House. 

            The Championship Trophy for Relay 4×100 Primary Section Boys was won by Azure House followed by the Championship Trophy for Relay Primary Section Girls was won by Ochre House.

The Championship Trophy for Relay 4×100 Secondary Section Boys was bagged by Shamrock House.

The day’s ultimate joy came to Azure House winning the overall House Trophy of the 1st Annual Athletic Meet 2024. 

             We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Rev. Fr. Barthol Machado and Rev. Fr. Norbert Dsouza for their unwavering support towards our Annual Sports events. 

In the aftermath of an exhilarating and triumphant Sports Day, it is with immense gratitude that we extend our sincerest thanks to Rev. Fr. Ryan Alex for his unwavering support and dedicated involvement in the meticulous preparation that led to the event’s resounding success.

We appreciate Deacon Melborn Poshapir for his continuous support until the end of the events.

A sincere acknowledgment to the dedicated Sisters from Holy Family Hospital for their crucial role in providing First Aid and contributing to the smooth execution of the Medals Distribution ceremony. Your support has been instrumental in making our sports events a resounding success.

The Meet was declared closed by the Chief Guest, and the crowd dispersed with the expectations of yet another exciting, closely contested Sports Meet the following year.
